I don’t know what’s the internet’s opinion on Lana Del Rey anymore but I just listened to her album to be honest I think it’s pretty decent.
It’s nothing amazingly impressive but it is different than what else is out there. However all of the Lolita references that Lana Del Rey makes, makes me feel like she’s never actually read Lolita. For the record Lolita is one of my favorite books ever but I don’t think there’s one person out there that would willingly want to be like or be Dolores Haze.
Additionally I felt like lyrically she was very repetitive (there’s only so many times I can hear you talk about red dresses, your boy being “the best”, Coney Island Queen, and trying to make witty slang catchphrases). Also lyrically I feel like a lot of it is really forced and trying really hard which makes it hard to take it seriously.
However I’m sure I’ll listen to the album for the next couple weeks.
